I have long found it fascinating how the energies of the planets are played out on the world stage for all of us to witness. In the World section in today’s Age newspaper (24th May 2000, page 16) the headline reads: “ Israel scrambles to get out of Lebanon”.

The article goes on to report how the Israeli forces are withdrawing from an area they have occupied for 22 years, as they rush to comply with a July 7 deadline. As fast as they are withdrawing, the Hezbollah guerrillas are sweeping into villages laying claim to disputed Lebanese land. Caught off guard by the sudden events, Mr Barak is under pressure to speed up the withdrawal.

A glance at Israel’s chart in Nicholas Campion’s Book of World Horoscopes shows the sun’s position in Israel’s horoscope at 24 degrees minutes of Taurus! – almost exactly the point of the Jupiter Saturn conjunction at 23 degrees Taurus. Israel is withdrawing – Saturn. The photo accompanying the article shows Israeli soldiers celebrating – Jupiter. The suddenness of events is shown by the almost exact square from Uranus (21 Aquarius) to these 2 planets.

The conjunction is precise on 28 th May 2000. It looks like Israel is coming to grips with a new reality. Reality is represented by Saturn, which at the time of writing is very close to the Israeli Sun. Israel’s Sun is located in the 8th house – this is a very serious matter for Israelis.

This withdrawal and the security fears (Taurus) it evokes is likely to result in a new optimism as Jupiter overtakes Saturn and conjoins Israel’s Sun. We can only hope that the Jupiter conjunction represents a celebration of the peace accord.

On the 16th of July 2000 there is a lunar eclipse on Israel’s IC. The IC represents the land and its people in a nation’s chart. In the same week Pluto in retrograde opposes Mercury, another 8th house planet, showing that decisions are made under great pressure.

The next few months may prove to be a significant time for Israel.
